This blunt and sharp vision of Collodi's novel supports its polymorphic structure, which has always provided the impetus to multiple interpretations.
Through its deliberately fragmented, portioned and dispensed style, the goal of this work is to show the observer the gloomiest aspect of the story and its Gothic underpinnings.
These aspects tend to get lost in the collective imagination, thanks to such sugar-coated interpretations as Disney's.
